Bayambang is bounded on the north by Malasiqui, on the south by Camiling, on the east by Bautista, and on the west by Urbiztondo. Bayambang is the farthest town south of the province of Pangasinan.
According to the legend, the name came from a plant called “balangbang”, which covered almost the whole Bayambang. These plants were made into pickles by the people. Until years had passed, these were rarely seen in the town.
There is another story where the name came from. It is from the numerous “Culibangbang” trees which until now are present in the town. When Spaniards came in the town and asked the natives what’s the town’s name, the people answered “culingbangbang”, thinking they were asked for the name of the trees. The Spaniards heard it as “Bayambang.” Since then, the town was called as Bayambang.
