Calasiao was founded by the Dominican Missionaries 361 years ago. In Spanish language, it means “Lugar de Raos”, which was named by missionaries before they left the town because of threat and maltreatment by N.P. Sto. Domingo de Gabon and took over. He built a church giving it the name of "The House of N.P. Sto. Domingo de Gabon de Calasiao."
From the followers of N.P. Sto. Domingo de Gabon and leadership of Fr. Luis Candullo, another church was built but soon ruined by an earthquake. It was rebuilt by avowed Catholics and named it Patron Saints San Pedro y San Pablo de Calasiao. After it was burnt by insurrectos, it was reconstructed with strong materials by Fr. Daimau. This church is considered as one of the best architectural design in Pangasinan.
