San Carlos City was already a developed community since pre-colonial times and was part of former town called Binalatongan, where King Ari Kasikis powered over. In 1718, it was renamed as San Carlos.
And now, by virtue of RA 4487, it became a city. San Carlos City is the 2nd class city in the Province of Pangasinan and most populated land area in the province. It has great potential in agriculture because of its cottages and handicraft making. The city is also popular as producer of sweet mangoes in Luzon.
